The relationships that we have with our Guests is what makes us so grateful to be able to call this a job.  We are humbled by the friendships formed with such amazing people from all over the world.  We all have the common goal of being in awe of the views and skiing the incredibly good snow that falls in the Columbia Mountains of western Canada every year.

For your trip we will not hire unsupervised Apprentice Ski Guides.  We feel that is a safety and quality issue and see it far too often in Rogers Pass and around Revelstoke with other operations.  We only hire fully certified ACMG Guides. If we are busy we will not hire out Guides that we don't even know for your trip.  We will simply recommend you to other outfits that we believe offer a good product.  This is a part of our industry that we have always disliked and instead want to offer you a superior product by skiing with Selkirk Powder Descents.

We strive on understanding what you want for your ski vacation and to deliver results for you.  We have skied enough powder, our goal is to get you what you want out of visiting Revelstoke and skiing in the Selkirk Mountains.  We want to show you the experience that has captivated us for the last twenty years.

Safe, Fully Certified, Years of Experience, Happy

For quality and safety purposes we only hire fully certified IFMGA/ACMG Guides.  Our Guides are all fully certified by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides.

Owner, Lead Guide.  John has been an ACMG Ski Guide for eight years now.  John grew up in the picturesque mountain town of Canmore, AB in the Canadian Rockies.  Raised by a National Park Warden, John was exposed to the mountains as a child and has not stopped since.  A former Canadian Cross-Country Ski Racing Champion, John gave up the groomers and skinny skis a long time ago in order to ski the deep powder of the Selkirk Mountains in Revelstoke.  John is all about having a good time in the mountains and skiing top quality snow.  Join John for an exceptional Ski Touring experience.

Owner, Operations Manager, Mother, rippin skier!  Katherine is the friendly organizer for all trips run through Selkirk Powder Descents.  A native of Canmore, AB Katherine also left the thin snowpack of the Rocky Mountains years ago for the deep snow and incredible terrain offered by the Selkirk Mountains in Revelstoke.  Katherine has a wealth of Ski Touring experience in the Revelstoke area, being able to help you organize a perfect Ski Touring holiday when visiting Revelstoke.  She may even grace us with her presence on a Ski Tour once in a while.

The quintessential Mountain Guide.  Everyone loves Tom, I mean everybody!

A long time resident of Golden, BC Tom was born in Austria and moved to Canada when he was 26 to work as a Mountain guide.  He only wanted to stay for one season but fell in love with Canada, it’s people and it’s mountains. Tom spends most of his time in the winters guiding Heli skiing for CMH but he really cherish's his ski touring weeks in the spring guiding together with John.  Tom is a pleasure to ski with and Ski Touring with Tom is a highlight of our ski season.

Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Canada, Ben has been on skis for almost his entire life.  By the age of 14 he had already completed numerous ski traverses and taken his first avalanche course through the Canadian Avalanche Association.  It is easy to say that Ben has always wanted to be a Ski Guide.

Ben has been guiding professionally since 2005 and since then he has guided all over the world gaining experience. He is frequently asked, where is the best place in the world to ski; his response is always Canada, Norway, New Zealand and Japan, of course depending on the time of year. He takes great pleasure sharing his love for the mountains and enjoys motivating his guests to achieve more that they thought they could. Don't ever say you "can't" around Ben; he will take it as a challenge.

Milk drinker, nap taker, best smiles in the world.  Rhiannon is the reason that we take safety so seriously.  Rhiannon isn't skiing too much these days but she is accepting bookings past 2040.
